Check and verify vehicle title transfers for legality and completeness. Accurately compute registration fees and sales tax using the vehicle’s make/model, year, weight, and sales price.Coordinate with the Comal Appraisal District on disposition of property tax accounts, homestead exemptions and other matters that affect taxpayers.Accurately input monthly transactions into the property tax collection and registration and titling systems.Properly account for average daily property tax and motor vehicle collections of over $8,500.Maintain an accurate inventory of office supplies.Maintain a professional and organized work area.Maintain a positive attitude with customers and colleagues.Organize workload by planning daily activities.Display leadership ability as other personnel seek your knowledge.Assist fellow personnel in all departments and other offices as needed.Work with limited supervision and communicate with the supervisor regularly.Assist with additional duties or tasks as required. Seek new and improved ways to perform daily tasks to increase efficiency. Schedule tax collector’s hearings to determine evidence of ownership.Issue 1-trip, 72/144 hour, 30-day permits and handicaps placards appropriately.Issue beer and wine permits and tax certificates appropriately.Create escrow accounts for taxpayers requesting to pay property taxes in advance.Establish and negotiate payout agreements with delinquent taxpayers.Assist customers in filing penalty and interest waivers in addition to lost title and special plate applications.Research, interpret, and apply the Texas Property Tax Code and Texas motor vehicle registration and titling laws and regulations to customer inquiries and daily tasks.Provide professional, courteous and timely customer service to Comal County taxpayers, mortgage companies, local businesses and Elected Officials.Open and close the satellite office daily.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Clerk IV (Satellite Office) will accurately input motor vehicle and property tax transactions monthly into the Texas Department of Motor Vehicle (TXDMV) Registration and Titling System (RTS) and the Automated Property Tax Collection System. Under the general supervision of the Executive Office Manager II, the Clerk IV (Satellite Office) will work in the satellite office and is responsible for the average daily collection, balancing, and depositing of over $8,500 in property taxes, vehicle registration, titling and other miscellaneous fees.
